The story of a group of dancers who never danced before.
They started from a small square and ended up performing in the biggest theatres in Europe. ‘The Dance of Small Things (or The Story of Fear and Desire)’ is a film about a group of people discovering the contagious power of dance to find the lost childhood within ourselves. Initiated by PIna Bausch’s dancer Julie Ann Stanzak into the unknown territory of dance, an international community of artists, led by one of them, Gaia ends up taking their work to a small village of Southern Italy. After a strong, initial resistance from the village, little by little the people of Giuliano start reacting to their presence in unexpected ways… From Brussels to Puglia, an intimate, funny, joyful journey into the possibilities of the human body, through the stories of twelve people discovering the language of dance for the first time.
